Outline planning application
Planning submitted
Homes England submitted an outline planning application for the Chalgrove Airfield site on the 19 June 2020 to South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC).
The application is for a residential led mixed used development that fully meets the policy requirements of the adopted South Oxfordshire District Plan 2034. It establishes the key principles for development and sets out a number of parameters, which if approved will guide future detailed applications (called Reserved Matters). The parameters identify what can be built where, the height of buildings as well as other key design criteria which will inform the detailed design stage. Read more about Local Plans
The image is the illustrative masterplan which has been submitted with the Outline Planning Application. The masterplan demonstrates how a policy compliant scheme could be developed in accordance with the emerging local plan and the parameters that have been submitted.
The original outline planning application for the development of Chalgrove Airfield was withdrawn by Homes England in May 2021 to allow an amended application to be submitted to take account of comments from the Civil Aviation Authority’s Airfield Advisory Team. This reflects Homes England’s commitment to safeguarding Martin Baker’s operations at Chalgrove.
There will be an opportunity for the local community and other stakeholders to comment on the detail at each stage of the planning process.
A separate full planning application to deliver two new bypasses around Stadhampton / Chiselhampton and Cuxham – to support the Chalgrove development – is due to be submitted to South Oxfordshire District Council in alongside the outline application for the main site. We will share links to the new planning applications when published on the council website.
